Luxury and Elegance
Transform a house into a home with the perfect fabric. While blinds and shades provide privacy, Custom Drapery adds the warmth, texture, and personality that makes a room feel complete. Whether you desire the dreamy, airy feel of sheer curtains or the hotel-quality darkness of lined blackout drapes, Made in the Shade brings the showroom to your living room.
The “Layered Look” Elevate your interior design by pairing drapery side panels with your hard window treatments. Layering soft drapes over wood blinds or roller shades adds depth to the window, frames the view, and provides flexible light control. It’s the secret to achieving that high-end designer aesthetic seen in magazines.
Insulation & Sound Control Beyond beauty, high-quality drapery is a workhorse. Heavy, lined fabrics act as an extra layer of insulation against drafty North Jersey winters and dampen outside noise, creating a quieter, cozier environment. From choosing the right header style (Pleated, Grommet, Ripplefold) to selecting decorative hardware, we handle every detail. Choosing the Right Fabric Opacity
| Fabric Type | Effect | Best Room |
|---|---|---|
| Sheers | Softens light, daytime privacy only | Living & Dining Rooms |
| Lined Panels | Adds body, protects fabric, privacy | Great Rooms & Offices |
| Blackout | 100% Light blocking & Sound dampening | Bedrooms & Media Rooms |
FAQ
Can I use drapes over my existing blinds?
Absolutely. This is called “layering.” Placing stationery side panels or full drapes over Window Shades or Blinds adds softness and color to the room while the blinds handle the daily privacy needs. It creates a rich, finished look.
How long should my curtains be?
-
This is where custom shines. Store-bought curtains are often too short. For a modern, tailored look, we recommend the fabric just “kiss” the floor or hover 1/2 inch above it. For a more formal, romantic look, we can add extra length for a “puddled” effect.
Can drapery be motorized?
Yes! Motorized drapery tracks are incredibly popular for wide windows or home theaters.
